Germany's Simon Rosner beat Gilly Lane, the second seed from the USA, in straight games in the final of the Garavan's West of Ireland Open to win his first PSA World Tour title in the $6,000 event at Galway Lawn Tennis Club in Galway, Ireland.

The 21-year-old from Paderborn controlled the pace from the start, making Lane work extremely hard for each point.  Rosner took Lane on a tour of the four corners of the court, forcing him into making several errors before finally winning 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 in 37 minutes.

"I’m delighted to claim my first PSA title," said Rosner, the world No52.  "I’ve been in the final three times before and have been searching for my first win for a long time - so I will always have great memories of Galway.  It was an awesome tournament with great organisation and I would like to return in the future.

"The final was a great match and I was really pleased with the way I played.  He made a couple of unforced errors that allowed me to move ahead.  Even when I was 9-2 up in the third he never stopped fighting for every point, he came back to 9-7 in that game as he never gave up."

Coincidentally, Rosner's maiden Tour success comes on the day Germany beat England to win the European Junior Championship title for the second time - just three years after he led the team to its historic first triumph over England in the event's final in 2006!
