Former champion and local hero Shawn Delierre will face New Zealander Martin Knight in a surprise final of the GoodLife Squash Open, the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 event in its eighth successive year at GoodLife Fitness in Ottawa, Canada.

Fourth seed Delierre, the 2006 and 2007 winner from Montreal, defeated unseeded Lucas Serme in a close match. Frenchman Serme had reached the semis after ousting Australia's defending champion and top seed Zac Alexander in the previous round.

"Shawn won the duels at the front of the court at the crucial times at the end of each game he won," said tournament organiser Heather Wallace. "His experience came through as he won 13-11, 11-9, 11-13, 11-5 in 51 minutes."

Knight, the No3 seed from Auckland, beat Clinton Leeuw, the South African who stunned second seed Chris Simpson to make the semis.

"Martin 'The Sponge' Knight was extremely sharp today as he soaked up everything Clinton Leeuw threw at him," added Wallace. "Knight, moving extremely well, ran down all of Leeuw's short volleys to take the first two games in a close battle, 11-9, 12-10.

"Leeuw started to make errors in the third game, losing his patience and Knight took it 11-5."

Delierre is celebrating his 16th PSA Tour final appearance - and his ninth on home soil - whilst Knight is marking the eighth of his career, but his first since April last year.
