Chris Simpson celebrated his first PSA World Tour squash title in almost two years when he beat fellow Englishman James Snell in the final of the $10,000 BC Honda Dealers Open at Jericho Tennis Club in Vancouver.
The 23-year-old top seed from the Channel Island of Guernsey recovered from a game down to beat surprise opponent Snell, the fourth seed from Exeter, 10-12, 11-3, 11-6, 11-8 in 64 minutes.
"Chris played steady and strong and in the end prevailed over James who put up a valiant effort after having a fantastic week of squash," said Tournament organiser Shauna Flath.
Simpson - whose previous Tour title triumph was also in Canada, at the Edmonton Open in December 2008 - was delighted with his latest success: "I am very pleased with how I played. It has been a long time since I have been the No1 seed and I have been nervous all week, as crazy as that sounds.
"To finish it off from the very first match of the tournament and to close it out is a fantastic feeling," added Simpson, who now has three PSA Tour titles to his credit.
