Czech squash star Olga Ertlova earned her maiden WISPA World Tour title in style at the $6,800 Women's Santiago Open at the Central Area Shopping Center in the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela.

The 24-year-old from Prague made her breakthrough in the semi-finals, beating Egypt's event favourite Nouran El Torky in five hard-fought games to reach her first final on the Tour.

And her opponent had an equally impressive route to the climax. Eighth seed Deon Saffery defeated second-seeded Slovakian Linda Hruzikova in the quarter-finals, then toppled France's Laura Pomportes, the third seed, to reach her second successive Tour final in a row.

Fourth seed Ertlova took the opening two games in the final, but her Welsh opponent fought back to draw level.

And after a close decider, it was Ertlova who emerged triumphant, beating Saffery 11-9, 11-8, 7-11, 9-11, 11-9 in 47 minutes become the newest winner of a WISPA Tour title.
