England's Victoria Lust achieved her career-first win over higher-ranked compatriot Lauren Briggs in the Women's Coronation London Open to claim an unexpected place in the semi-finals of the $10,000 WISPA World Tour squash event at the Cumberland Lawn Tennis & Squash Club in north London.

The fifth seed from Cheltenham despatched Briggs, the second seed, 11-9, 11-9, 11-2 in just 25 minutes.

Lust, ranked 45 in the world, now faces fellow countrywoman Laura Hill for a place in the final. Hill, a fire-fighter from Derbyshire, had to fend off a determined bid by fellow qualifier Tesni Evans before prevailing 13-11, 11-7, 10-12, 9-11, 11-3 in 60 minutes over the 18-year-old from Rhyl.

Guyana's Nicolette Fernandes stands in the way of an all-English final. The London-based fourth seed needed 55 minutes to see off English qualifier Sarah-Jane Perry 11-3, 15-13, 8-11, 11-6.

Fernandes, the 27-year-old world No49, will now line up against England's top seed Emma Beddoes. The world No23 from Nottingham beat compatriot Lauren Selby, the seventh seed, 11-5, 11-6, 11-2.
