RESULTS: Saskatoon Boast Open, Saskatoon, Canada

Final:
[2] Laurence Delasaux (ENG) bt [7] Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira (MEX) 5-11, 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6 (72m)

England's Laurence Delasaux successfully retained his Saskatoon Boast Open title in Canada after beating Mexican opponent Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira in the final of the $10,000 PSA World Tour squash event in Saskatoon in the province of Saskatchewan.

Both players patiently moved the other around the court with very little difference apparent. The Englishman gained some points early with his deceptive front-court trickle boast wrong-footing Ferreira several times.

"This set up some good length for winners later in the match," said event spokesman Brad Birnie. "Both players appeared tired for the first time in the tournament and that led to a few more mistakes than we are used to seeing from them."

With Delasaux up two games to one, Ferreira gained control of the fourth game when he reeled off four straight points at 4-4. Although he seemed to be tiring, Delasaux stormed back to 8-8 and then 9-9, before the seventh-seeded Mexican ran out the game. The momentum was swinging in Ferreira's favour - it seemed.

All credit to Delasaux, the No2 seed from Yorkshire who held it close in the fifth game until rattling off four straight points to get to 8-4. It seemed that Ferreira was tiring - something the Saskatoon crowd could never imagine from the ultra-fit, ultra-fast 28-year-old from Mexico City. The play became a little tighter at that point and both players kept up the pace - but it was Delasaux who ultimately prevailed 5-11, 11-9, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6 after 72 minutes.

The win takes 25-year-old Delasaux's career total to six Tour titles.
