Second seed Amr Khaled Khalifa prevailed in the all-Egyptian final of the $6,000 Canary Islands Open to win his first PSA World Tour squash title since becoming world junior champion in August.

The 18-year-old from Cairo was taken the full distance in the semi-finals at the Club de Tenis Tenerife in Tenerife before overcoming Germany's fourth seed Jens Schoor 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 10-12, 11-6.

But his opponent in the final was qualifier Marwan El Shorbagy - the 17-year-old from Alexandria who stunned top seed Joel Hinds in the opening round by beating the Englishman ranked almost 100 places higher 11-9, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9.

El Shorbagy went on to down the sixth and eighth seeds before reaching his second Tour final in three months as a qualifier.

The outsider took the second game to draw level, but it was Khalifa, the world No98, who ultimately came through, winning 11-9, 9-11, 14-12, 11-7 to pick up the fourth Tour title of his career to date.
