The Canadian No2 seed upset the English World No1 in a breathtaking and seesawing 107-minute match in front of a captivated sell-out crowd at the Broadgate Arena. The win put an end to Nicol's unbeaten run in 2003 and deprived the 30-year-old Londoner of the chance to equal Jansher Khan's record of four Super Series Finals titles. Power's 15-10 10-15 13-15 15-4 15-14 victory came after almost two hours of the very highest quality squash, both players pushing each other to the absolute limit. It was Power who drew first blood, taking the first game with some stunning attacking strokeplay, but he then faced a fierce comeback from Nicol who fought back strongly to win the second - then the third. Power then dominated the fourth to take the match to a fifth and deciding game which he won in dramatic fashion after audaciously calling 'set one' with the scores level at 14-all. The victory was Power's first ever Super Series Finals title and moves him one win ahead of Nicol in their 33 match head-to-head battle over the past eight years. The win also marks the Canadian's first PSA Tour trophy success of the year - and, remarkably, the 30th title of his career in his 50th final! In the play-off for third place, France's Thierry Lincou beat Australia's Anthony Ricketts 13-15, 15-13, 9-7 in the best-of-three pre-final clash
