WORLD SQUASH NEWS Peter Nicol Retains World No1 Ranking England's Peter Nicol retains his No1 ranking in the new February Dunlop PSA Men's World Rankings, announced today (31 January) by the Professional Squash Association (PSA). In a relatively unchanged list, Nicol's Commonwealth Games Men's Doubles gold medal partner Lee Beachill is the only riser in the top ten, moving up to a career-high-equalling No8. The pair could next face each other in the final of the British National Championships, in a repeat of the 2002 final which was won by Yorkshireman Beachill. Canada's Jonathon Power holds onto the No2 position while David Palmer, the Australian who succeeded Nicol as world champion last month, remains at No3. In the lower half of the top twenty, Pakistan's Mansoor Zaman moves up one position to a new career-best world No15. Egypt's Omar Elborolossy celebrates a return to the top twenty (at 20) after winning this month's Ali Bin Ali Open in Qatar. Three players have attained their best-ever rankings in this month's top 40: England's Nick Matthew, who rises four places to 24; compatriot Adrian Grant, who moves up to 32 after reaching the quarter-finals of the EBS Dayton Open in the USA unseeded; and Canada's Shahier Razik who upset three seeds to clinch the Marsh & McLennan Apawamis Open trophy in Rye, USA, as a qualifier. 1 [1] Peter Nicol ENG 2 [2] Jonathon Power CAN 3 [3] David Palmer AUS 4 [4] John White SCO 5 [5] Stewart Boswell AUS 6 [6] Thierry Lincou FRA 7 [7] Anthony Ricketts AUS 8 [9] Lee Beachill ENG 9 [8] Ong Beng Hee MAS 10 [10] Martin Heath SCO 11 [11] Karim Darwish EGY 12 [13] Chris Walker ENG 13 [12] Mark Chaloner ENG 14 [14] Amr Shabana EGY 15 [16] Mansoor Zaman PAK 16 [15] Joseph Kneipp AUS 17 [17] Alex Gough WAL 18 [18] Simon Parke ENG 19 [19] Nick Taylor ENG 20 [23] Omar Elborolossy EGY
