Peter Nicol In Line For Super Series Record

Victory in last week's West Edmonton Mall Canadian Open Squash Championship in Edmonton - the first new PSA Super Series event for three years - takes England's Peter Nicol to the top of the Super Series standings by more than a 500 point margin.

The top eight players in the standings at the end of the year will qualify to play in the Super Series Finals in London next year.  Nicol, the 30-year-old world No1 from London, is in line to appear in a record ninth successive Super Series Finals event after making his debut in 1996.

Two Super Series events were staged at the beginning of the year - the Tournament of Champions in New York, the PSA Masters in Qatar - and a further two, the Qatar Classic and World Open in Pakistan, will be held in December.

Nicol, who also won the 2003 Tournament of Champions title, leads the standings ahead of John White, the Scot who lifted the PSA Masters trophy; joint second-placed Thierry Lincou, the Frenchman who was runner-up both in New York and Qatar; and fourth-placed Jonathon Power, the Canadian who reached the Edmonton final.
