Runa Ruins Lloyd-Walters' World Open Bid

Canada's Runa Reta caused the biggest upset on the opening day of qualifying for the Credit Suisse Privilege Women's World Open Squash Championship in Hong Kong when she beat England's Dominique Lloyd-Walter, ranked 24 in the world, 8-10 9-1 9-7 1-9 9-1 in 55 minutes.

Reta, the world No60 from Ontario, now faces another Englishwoman Vicky Lankester for a place in the main draw.

Local interest in the qualifying event was extinguished completely on the first day with all five Hong Kong entrants - Elise Ng, Karen Lau, Chiu Ka Kei, Christina Mak and Chan Ho Ling - crashing out to higher-ranked opponents.

Welsh champion Tegwen Malik pulled off the fastest win of the day - beating Scotland's Frania Gillen-Buchert 9-0 9-0 9-0 in just 10 minutes.
