Seeds Tumble In Virginia

South Africa's Rodney Durbach and Jan Koukal, from the Czech Republic, will meet in an unexpected final of the Virginia Professional Squash Championships in Richmond, Virginia, after despatching the top two seeds in the new PSA Tour event in the USA.

Koukal, a 20-year-old from Prague who made his only previous appearance in a PSA final twelve months ago in Barcelona, began his Richmond run by upsetting fourth-seeded Welshman David Evans, the fourth seed, in the quarter-finals.  Koukal, the seventh seed, was leading 2/1 when his semi-final opponent Paul Price, the top seed from Australia, was forced to retire with an injury, with the scoreboard at 15-8 12-15 15-9 8-9.

Durbach, the world No31 from Potchefstroom, faced Canada's second seed Shahier Razik in the semi-finals.  At 1/2 down, the 31-year-old mounted a spirited comeback to beat Razik 15-11 10-15 8-15 15-9 15-9 to reach the 11th PSA final of his career.
