Grant & Zaman To Meet In COAS Final

Domestic interest in the final of the $25,000 Chief Of the Army Staff (COAS) Squash International in Islamabad will be led by Pakistan's unseeded Shahid Zaman, who beat fellow countryman Majid Khan, a qualifier, in today's (Tuesday) semi-finals and will face England's sixth seed Adrian Grant in tomorrow's climax.

Majid Khan, a 20-year-old former Pakistan junior international from Peshawar, fought all the way in his surprise semi-final against the experienced Shahid Zaman, a world top fifty player for almost three years.  Twice Zaman led, and twice his young opponent drew level.

After 73 minutes, the Quetta-based Zaman finally gained his 15-8 11-15 15-11 8-15 15-12 win to reach his first PSA Tour final for more than two years.

London-born left-hander Adrian Grant had a slightly easier run to his 12th PSA Tour final in a 15-8 11-15 15-6 15-7 victory in 55 minutes over Egypt's Wael El Hindi, the seventh seed.

The in-form world No21, who is now based in Halifax in Yorkshire, will be looking for his first title success for more than a year in the biggest final of his career.
