Irish Reward For Lloyd-Walter Is Champion Atkinson

England's Dominique Lloyd-Walter needed four games to overcome Canadian Runa Reta 9-2 10-8 6-9 9-5 in the final qualifying round of the Nivea Body Irish Women's Squash Open at the Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin - and will now face top seed Vanessa Atkinson, the defending champion from the Netherlands, in the first round.

Lloyd-Walter's compatriot Vicky Lankester also made it through to the first round with a 10-9 9-7 9-6 win over Australian Dianne Desira - but the 22-year-old from Victoria was then chosen as 'lucky loser' to replace England's third seed Linda Charman, who was forced to withdraw from the event with a back injury.

Desira takes on fellow Australian Amelia Pittock, who qualified after beating Karen Kronemeyer, from the Netherlands, 9-4 9-4 9-2.

Tegwen Malik claimed the final qualifying spot after defeating England's Rebecca Botwright 10-8 9-6 9-3.  The Welsh champion's reward is a repeat of last year's first round clash with England's Rebecca Macree, the fifth seed.
