Fresh from victory in last week's revived Malaysian National Championships, world number one Nicol David is set to win a record sixth successive title in this week's CIMB Malaysian Open Squash Championship at The Curve Shopping Mall and Bukit Jalil National Squash Centre in her country's capital city Kuala Lumpur.

David is top seed in the $53,500 championship, the fourth Gold event of the year on the women's WISPA World Tour which has attracted a star-studded field featuring nine of the top ten players in the world.


It was after a 13-year-gap that the Malaysian National Championships were revived - allowing Nicol David to win one of the few titles that she does not already boast! But the 26-year-old from Penang now has her eyes firmly fixed on international squash success - with the CIMB Malaysian Open, from 21-24 July, immediately followed by the CIMB Singapore Masters, from 28-31 July, in which the Malaysian is also the favourite.

The WISPA Gold Singapore event, now in its fourth year, will move onto an all-glass court for the first time with the finals being played at Kallang Leisure Park.

Nicol David, with 44 WISPA Tour titles to her name, is expected to renew her rivalry with world number two Jenny Duncalf in KL. The 27-year-old English player is seeded to meet David in Saturday's Malaysian Open final in their third Tour climax this year.

While David opens her 2010 Malaysian Open campaign against a qualifier, Duncalf faces New Zealand number one Jaclyn Hawkes in the opening round.
