Hosts Dash England Double Bid

Hosts Switzerland dashed England's double hopes in the European Junior U15/U17 Squash Championships after upsetting the title-holders in the U15 event in Langnau, near Zurich.

Jasmin Ballmann put Switzerland ahead in the U15 final with a 9-3 10-8 10-8 win over England's Victoria Bell.  Nicolas Mueller then claimed victory for the hosts when he beat Adrian Waller 9-6 9-4 9-3.  In the final 'dead' rubber, Neil Cordell gained a consolation point for England with a 9-0 9-2 win over Claudio Merlo.

England's hero in the U17 final was squad No3 Christopher Tasker-Grindley, who clinched the team's 2-1 win over third seeds Germany when he beat Lennart Osthoff 9-4 9-4 9-3 in the deciding rubber.

Earlier, Sussex's Rachel Willmott put the top seeds and defending champions ahead with a 9-1 3-9 9-1 9-3 victory over bt Pamela Hathway.  But Germany levelled the tie when Simon Roesner, runner-up in last month's German Junior Open, beat the England No1 Joel Hinds 9-2 9-4 10-8.
