US Open Chooses Official PSA Glass Court

The Official PSA Tournament Glass Court, produced by McWil Courtwall, has been selected for use at the prestigious US Open Squash Championship in September.

Promoters Event Engine chose the McWil PSA court to replace the ASB glass court previously used for the 5 star PSA event which will be contested again at Symphony Hall in Boston, from 17-21 September.

"The association with the PSA is a big step forward for McWil Courtwall in terms of promoting McWil's position as a leading squash court builder both in the USA and worldwide," said company owner David Carr.

He went on to say that while the all-glass court was a promotional tool for McWil Courtwall, the broader intent and purpose is to make the game of squash more accessible to spectators, to introduce new folks to the game and to enhance the marketing value of the game for sponsors.

"We are working hard to make the option of an all-glass court available to promoters at all levels of professional events, as we realise it is a costly step to move from a "club" event to a public spectacle that will garner media attention and sports section coverage," Carr added.

McWil Courtwall co-owner Wolfgang Denk, based in Austria and responsible for technical development, also pointed out that the Official PSA Tournament Glass Court would be equipped with the latest BOSS Technology sensor telltale with integrated digital scoreboard from this date forward.

McWil Courtwall is also pleased to announce the availability of a brand new all-glass court with a moveable side wall to allow both singles and doubles to be played on the same structure.  Development of this new court was encouraged by demand from events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games, where the desire is to be able to play singles and doubles on the feature court on the same day.

Wolfgang Denk praised a key McWil Courtwall partner, saying:   "We were able to develop the singles/doubles court in the short period of only six months due to the experience and cooperation of Glaverbel Hardmaas, the world's leading glass fabricator."

David Carr added:  "This is a big step into the right direction to promote McWIL Courtwall as the leading squash court construction company in the USA, and soon in the world market."
