Romain Ruins Hong Kong Double Hopes

Unseeded Frenchman Romain Tenant prevented a Hong Kong double in the finals of the new KCC-Perrier Squash Centenary Cup in Kowloon, Hong Kong, when he beat the country's National champion Wai Hang Wong in the men's final after local star Rebecca Chiu lifted the women's title by beating India's Joshna Chinappa in the other final.

Frenchman Tenant, in his first appearance in a PSA Tour event since October 2002, made his breakthrough in the early rounds - beating Japan's fifth seed Takehide Hota, then fourth-seeded Indian Gaurav Nandrajog.  In the final, the 23-year-old overcame a disastrous first game loss to defeat second seed Wai Hang Wong 1-11 11-9 11-5 11-9 to claim the first PSA Tour title of his career.

Top seed Rebecca Chiu, ranked 17 in the world, took just 16 minutes to collect the sixth WISPA World Tour title of her career.  Her unseeded opponent Joshna Chinappa had reached the final after a four-game defeat of Wales's second seed Tegwen Malik in the semi-finals.  However, Asian Games champion Chiu despatched the 18-year-old from Chennai, ranked 90 places lower, 9-0 9-2 9-3.
