Korean Qualifier Carves Through Calgary Competition

South Korean qualifier Lee Hai-Kyung, making her debut on the WISPA World Tour, burst through the field of the Women's Airdre Chrysler Calgary Squash Open to reach the final of this inaugural women's Tour event in Canada's Alberta capital.

After defeating eighth seed Margriet Huisman in straight games in the opening round, the 29-year-old from Seoul claimed the biggest scalp when she overturned England's top seed Lauren Briggs 6-9 10-8 9-7 9-5 in a 45-minute quarter-final.

Later in the day, the unbeaten Korean National champion since 1999 went on to reserve a place in the final by defeating fourth-seeded Canadian Katie Patrick 9-4 5-9 9-3 5-9 9-2 in 50 minutes.

Lee now faces another Canadian for the title after fifth seed Melanie Jans Burke overcame compatriot Marnie Baizley, the seventh seed, 9-6 9-0 10-8 in the other semi-final.
