Unseeded English teenager Charles Sharpes ousted three of the top four seeds in the Hashim Khan Championship in the USA to win the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 squash event at the Denver Athletic Club in Denver, Colorado.

It was an impressive performance by the 19-year-old reigning British Junior champion who is only ranked 166 in the world.

London-born Sharpes followed his straight games win over second-seeded Canadian Robin Clarke in the quarter-finals by beating Australia's No4 seed Rex Hedrick, also 3/0, in the semi-finals.

The surprise final was an all-English affair in which Sharpes, based in Kingston-upon-Thames, faced Lewis Walters, the third seed from Nottingham.

But the underdog was too sharp for Walters as Sharpes took the title by an 11-6, 11-5, 11-7 scoreline, thereby maintaining his straight games-winning run in the championship.

It was Sharpes' third PSA Tour final appearance - and his second success.
