WORLD SQUASH NEWS RESULTS: Women's Open de la Cite, Carcassone, France Final: [1] Isabelle Stoehr (FRA) bt [2] Ellen Petersen (DEN) 9-7, 9-5, 9-2 Stoehr Storms To Carcassone Conquest It was third time lucky for French squash star Isabelle Stoehr who lifted the Women's Open de la Cite title for the first time in her third appearance in the final in Carcassone, France. It was clear from the start that top seed Stoehr, the French national champion, wanted to work her opponent Ellen Petersen hard, and her powerful drives and volleys kept the ball flying around on the hot court. Petersen, the second seed from Denmark, fought back from 1-7 down in the first game to draw level, but the French favourite eventually clinched the opening game after 20 minutes. The second game again was close, but despite making unforced errors at the front of the court, the top seed extended her lead to 2/0. Local hero Stoehr began to raise the pace and after 55 minutes claimed her 9-7 9-5 9-2 victory. The Carcassone success marks Stoehr's second WISPA World Tour title. It was 20 months ago that the 23-year-old World Universities Champion from Tours claimed her first - winning the Himmerland Open in Denmark, where she also beat Petersen in the final!
