Pilley Captures Calgary Cup

Australia's Cameron Pilley powered his way to victory in the Talisman Energy Bankers Hall Club Squash Open in Canada when he beat England's Alex Stait in the final of the $10,000 PSA Tour event in Calgary.

The 21-year-old fourth seed from Eight Mile Plains in Queensland made his breakthrough in the event's semi-finals when he triumphed 11-15 17-15 15-11 15-6 over top-seeded Englishman Jonathan Kemp.

In the final, Pilley defeated fifth seed Stait, now based in Hertfordshire, 15-9 9-15 15-9 17-15.

With five PSA titles to his credit before arriving in Calgary - all of which were achieved in his home country or New Zealand - this was Pilley's first success in the northern hemisphere.
