Anjema & Grinham Clinch Dutch Open Local Double

Dutchman Laurens Jan Anjema and Netherlands-based Australian Natalie Grinham celebrated a popular local double at the Caesar Sports Club in The Hague, winning the men's and women's title, respectively, in the Dutch Open Squash Championships.

Third seed Anjema, based in The Hague, beat fourth-seeded Welshman Gavin Jones in straight games in the men's final to become the first Dutch winner of the title since the championship became a PSA Tour event.  The 21-year-old also celebrates an achievement his illustrious father Robert Jan Anjema never realised, despite being the leading Dutch player of his generation and winning his National Championships on countless occasions.

The first two games were long and close affairs.  On both occasions, the players reached 12-all, but 'LJ' went on to play the big points better.  After Anjema captured the second game, there was no way out for the brave Welshman.  Anjema went on to claim the biggest title of his career 15-12 15-12 15-5 - much to the delight of the home crowd.

In the women's final, defending champion Natalie Grinham caused a huge upset with a 3/1 win over England's world number one Cassie Jackman.  Grinham had already lost six times to Jackman this year, but this time the 26-year-old Queenslander proved the stronger player.

In an exciting encounter, the lightning-fast Grinham recovered most of Jackman's shots and countered them with winners of her own.  After winning the first two games, the younger of the two world-class Grinham sisters from Toowoomba lost her way in the third.

However the world number five-ranked Grinham refocused in the fourth game to romp to a 9-7 9-5 0-9 9-5 win to collect her second consecutive Dutch Open title - and the fourth WISPA World Tour trophy of her career.
