Tranfield Hits The Jackpot In Las Vegas

England's Jenny Tranfield crowned a sensational run on the WISPA World Tour in the USA when she beat compatriot Jenny Duncalf in the final of the 'Bright Lights' Women's Las Vegas Squash Open at the Club Sport Green Valley in Nevada to lift her second title against the odds in seven days.

Just a week ago, the 29-year-old world No17 from Milton Keynes upset three higher-ranked players en-route to winning the Squashworks Open trophy in Salt Lake City.

The eighth-seeded Doctor - Tranfield holds a PhD in 'Sports Psychology' - hit the jackpot in Las Vegas when she toppled fourth seed Duncalf 9-5 9-0 0-9 9-4 in 53 minutes in the 'Bright Lights' final to clinch the tenth, and biggest, WISPA title of her career.

Tranfield's Las Vegas success also featured three upsets, including wins over world No12 Duncalf, Egypt's world No10 Omneya Abdel Kawy and a semi-final victory over world No14 Shelley Kitchen - which avenged the straight games loss to the New Zealander two weeks ago in the Hyder Open in New York.

Yorkshire-born Tranfield has enjoyed an illustrious squash career which includes British National Junior titles at U14 and U16, British Junior Open titles at U16 and U19, and the World Universities title in her second appearance in the final.  She also boasts a formidable WISPA record, having only lost in two of her 12 final appearances since her first in March 1997.
