Home interest in the semi-finals of the Saskatoon Boast Open is guaranteed after all eight seeds survived the opening round of the $10,000 PSA World Tour squash event in its ninth year at the YMCA of Saskatoon in Saskatoon, Canada.

Andrew McDougall and Robin Clarke will line up in an all-Canadian quarter-final after straight games wins over fellow countrymen. Fifth seed McDougall beat qualifier Andrew Schnell 11-7, 12-10, 11-7, while Clarke, the No4 seed, beat unseeded Matthew Serediak 11-6, 11-6, 11-4.

Mexico's Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira made it through to the quarter-finals in his bid to reach the final for the second time since 2006. But the No7 seed battled for 95 minutes before overcoming Canadian qualifier Dane Sharp 13-11, 11-13, 8-11, 11-3, 11-3.

The newly-crowned Panamerican champion will now face fellow Mexican Eric Galvez. The third seed, the Panamerican champion in 2009, beat Canadian Tyler Hamilton 11-3, 11-4, 11-3.
