Canadians Canter Into Last Four At Forbes

Unseeded Canadians Marnie Baizley and Runa Reta crashed into the semi-finals of the Women's Forbes Squash Open after convincing quarter-final upsets in Southport, USA.

Marnie Baizley, the Canadian National champion from Winnipeg, battled hard against sixth-seeded Australian Melissa Martin to pull through 9-7 10-8 6-9 2-9 9-7.  The 28-year-old former world No30 now meets top seed Vicky Botwright, who breezed past English compatriot Kate Roe, the fifth seed, 9-2 9-2 9-4.

Runa Reta maintained the form which saw her reach her maiden WISPA World Tour final last week in her hometown of Ottawa when she fought back from a game down to beat England's No2 seed Stephanie Brind 9-10 9-4 9-4 9-6 in what was certainly the biggest scalp of her WISPA career.

Reta will meet Scotland's third seed Pamela Nimmo who powered her way through to the last four with a 9-4 6-9 9-1 9-5 defeat of Egypt's Eman El Amir, the winner of the Ontario Open in Ottawa.

Edinburgh-born Nimmo is enjoying a welcome return to form after an injury-plagued period which saw the former world No14 drop to 30 in the WISPA rankings.  The Nottingham-based 26-year-old is now back to 23 after twice exceeding her seeding over the past month.
