Bennett & De Rycke Triumph In French Junior Open
Dutchman Dylan Bennett and Belgian Charlie De Rycke triumphed in the French
Junior Open Squash Championships in Marseilles.
Bennett, top seed in the Men's U-19 category, claimed his sixth European
Squash Federation (ESF) Junior Circuit title in five months when he fought
back from two games down to beat Sweden's Rasmus Holt 8-9 8-10 10-8 9-6 9-1.
Eindhoven-based Bennett, 18, has enjoyed an impressive run since claiming the
Nordic Junior Open title in Malmo, Sweden, in September - going on to collect
the Spanish, Belgian, Hungarian and Scottish Junior Open trophies before his
success in Marseilles.
France's Romain Degezelle was the only unseeded player to reach the
semi-finals after a shock upset over England's No2 seed Toby Mortimer in the
first round.
Charlie De Rycke made her break in the women's U-19 event in the semi-finals
where she knocked out Spain's top seed Margaux Moros 9-7 9-3 9-7. In the
final, fourth-seeded Moros recovered from a game down to beat Orla Noom, the
seventh seed from the Netherlands, 8-10 9-4 9-4 9-5.
